In the early days of World War II, the Lang family lost everything. Eighty years later, it’s time to take it back.

The Nazis have taken control of Austria, and wealthy widower Leopold Lang faces a difficult decision: join the ranks of the foreign power that has taken over his homeland or flee with his children to safety. Leopold makes his choice—but too late. His family is ripped apart, never to be reunited. But decades later, fate brings together the descendants of this broken dynasty in the place where it all began—Falcon Point.

Anna, Cole, and Tess have never met, each relying on fractured pieces of information to understand their Austrian heritage. But when unforeseen opportunities draw these Lang cousins to Falcon Point, they soon discover they are not alone in their quest to claim the coveted property and the fabled treasure hidden within. Unfortunately, another claimant, one with a much darker heritage, is determined to eliminate the Lang family once and for all.

“Which means whoever this trust benefits would be a relative of mine.”

Gunnar’s jaw tightened. This resort was supposed to give him financial freedom, not threaten the possessions he already controlled. One thing at a time. As soon as he sold another painting from the estate, he would have the funds to pay the hit man to take care of Ingrid’s grandchildren. As for Anna, surely she knew how dangerous a construction site could be.

He made his way to the storage room where the most valuable artwork and antiques were being housed during the current phase of the renovation. After he put his shoes back on, he opened the protective crate that held the last truly valuable artwork from the original Lang estate. These early sketches by Rembrandt should do the trick. A private collector had been asking about them for months. With the money that would come in, Gunnar would be able to pay for the contract on Lars and Tess Hendriks four times over.

Gunnar located the desired artwork and ensured the protective covering was intact. He turned off the light before he opened the door slowly and peeked into the hall. Once he was certain it was empty, he hurried to the back exit where he had parked his car.

He stored the sketches in the trunk and climbed behind the wheel. If Beckett and Anna were working this late every night, when would he be able to get into the archive room to make sure there wasn’t any documentation lurking there that could create doubt about the ownership of Falcon Point? If Anna really was a Lang, she could be more problematic than he thought. If a copy of the letter to the land authority had been sent here, where was it? Did other letters exist? More importantly, had Anna found any of the old correspondence from Ingrid Lang?

About the Authors

Traci Hunter Abramson was born in Arizona, where she lived until moving to Venezuela for a study-abroad program. After graduating from Brigham Young University, she worked for the Central Intelligence Agency for several years, eventually resigning in order to raise her family. She credits the CIA with giving her a wealth of ideas as well as the skills needed to survive her children's teenage years. She loves to travel and enjoys coaching her local high school swim team. She has written more than thirty bestselling novels and is a seven-time Whitney Award winner, including 2017 and 2019 Best Novel of the Year.

Sian Ann Bessey was born in Cambridge, England, but grew up on the island of Anglesey off the coast of North Wales. She left her homeland to attend Brigham Young University in Utah, where she earned a bachelor's degree in communications with a minor in English.

She began her writing career as a college student, publishing several articles in the New Era, Ensign, and Liahona magazines. Since then she has published historical romance and romantic suspense novels, along with a variety of children's books. She is a USA Today best-selling author, a Foreword Reviews Book of the Year finalist, and a Whitney Award finalist.

Sian and her husband, Kent, are the parents of five children and the grandparents of three beautiful girls and two handsome boys. They currently live in Idaho, and although Sian doesn't have the opportunity to speak Welsh very often anymore, she can still wrap her tongue around, Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch still rolls off her tongue.

Traveling, reading, cooking, and being with her grandchildren are some of her favorite activities.

Paige Edwards is an award-winning author of contemporary Regency romances with a side-order of suspense. Her stories have debuted in the number-one Amazon spot for Christian fiction and have received national five-star reviews by Reader’s Favorite and InD’Tale Magazine. Her novels appeal to a wide range of readers from Historical Romance to Mystery/Suspense. She holds a degree in interior design and has worked professionally in that field. Due to her strong British roots, Paige’s books are often set in the UK, and she hops the pond whenever she gets the chance. She Is the Lady Paige Edwards when in Scotland, but her favorite title is Grandma. When she needs a break from writing, she serves as president of her area’s Interfaith Community Council, she is fond of digging in the dirt (what some might call gardening), she bikes the battlefields, and she kayaks on the lake.

A. L. Sowards has always been fascinated by the 1940s, but she’s grateful she didn’t live back then. She doesn’t think she could have written a novel on a typewriter, and no one would be able to read her handwriting if she wrote her books out longhand. She does, however, think they had the right idea when they rationed nylon and women went barelegged.

Sowards is the author of multiple historical fiction novels, with settings spanning the globe from the fourteenth to twentieth centuries. Her stories have become Whitney Finalists and won a Whitney Award, reached the number one spot across multiple Amazon categories, received praise from the Historical Novel Society, and been loved by readers from a variety of backgrounds.

She lives with her husband and three children and has called Washington State, Utah, and Alaska home. She enjoys hiking and swimming, usually manages to keep up with the laundry, and loves it when someone else cooks dinner. She doesn’t own a typewriter, but she does own a pair or two of nylons.

“What am I supposed to do?”

He rubbed his chin again as if considering her options. “You could go back the way you came.”

She narrowed her gaze. He sounded as if he was suggesting she should go back to where she came from. Everything she’d read about Texas said that Texans embraced hospitality. This wasn’t the Texas welcome she’d expected from a cowboy who looked as much a part of the landscape as the tumbleweed and plains surrounding her. Paige pointed toward the cows and smiled. “But I really need to go that way.”

“Nothing to do then but wait.” He touched the brim of his hat. “Now I need to get back to work. It’s already been a long morning and not the good kind either.”

“What’s the good kind?” Paige smashed her lips together too late.

He stilled and his head tilted to the side. His smile started and stopped. Another surge of that devil-may-care.

Warning bells sounded. Paige’s heart raced. Never mind. Her voice never gained traction.

Book Tour & Excerpt: Every Word Unsaid by Kimberly Duffy

Synopsis

Augusta Travers has spent the last three years avoiding the stifling expectations of New York society and her family's constant disappointment. As the nation's most fearless--and reviled--columnist, Gussie travels the country with her Kodak camera and spins stories for women unable to leave hearth and home. But when her adventurous nature lands her in the middle of a scandal, an opportunity to leave America offers the perfect escape.

Arriving in India, she expects only a nice visit with childhood friends, siblings Catherine and Gabriel, and escapades that will further her career. Instead, she finds herself facing a plague epidemic, confusion over Gabriel's sudden appeal, and the realization that what she wants from life is changing. But slowing down means facing all the hurts of her past that she's long been trying to outrun. And that may be an undertaking too great even for her.

Advance Praise

“Duffy shines in elegant, flowing prose and delicate precision that underscores the nineteenth-century setting."— Booklist, starred review

"An author to watch."— Library Journal

"Duffy's writing is beautiful, deep, and contemplative."— Jocelyn Green, Christy Award-winning author of Shadows of the White City

Excerpt

Gussie stepped into the train car and stretched her neck, easing the kinks. Minnesota and South Dakota weren’t exactly undiscovered, but one may as well be the Arctic, and the other had only become a state eight years prior. They were as far from her readers’ lives as the moon. And Gussie aimed to provide a peek at other places. Places to dream on. Places to wish for.

After she followed the porter to her berth and watched him settle her bags on the bed and draw the velvet curtain, she made her way to the dining car, eager for a decent meal and a few moments with her book.

She ordered lobster salad and a glass of chardonnay, then set A Lady’s Journey East on the white tablecloth and ran her hand over its light blue cover. She traced the gilt title with the familiarity of one who had spent a decade reading the words contained in its pages. The author, Cordelia Fox, was the heroine of Gussie’s youthful dreams. While other girls yearned for princess castles and knights in shining armor, Gussie only wanted to explore the beaches of Cyprus, ride an elephant through India’s forests, and climb dunes in Morocco.

Gussie opened the book, its binding worn and cracked, the pages stained from adolescent exploits. Here a smudge of golden paint from when she was banished to her room for playing Midas. Her sister Lavinia hadn’t appreciated the effort it took to paint her parakeet. There the remains of the contraband holiday gingerbread she’d stolen the night before Christmas. She’d eaten half of it and spent the entire next day groaning and clutching her stomach while Mother sadly shook her head and Father took all her gifts to a poor family from church.

She swiped at the brown stain, again feeling her parents’ disappointment. That had never gone away. Not really. And over the years, it had only grown.

Gussie shook her head and flipped the pages, filling the empty places of her heart with Cordelia Fox’s adventures. With romance and excitement and thrill.

Some people had dime novels. Gussie had travel memoirs. Written by women who had cast off tradition and expectation and stepped into places unknown. Women who not only were changed by their experiences but had, in turn, changed the world.

Nellie Bly had proven herself capable and that women were equal to any task. Cordelia Fox had taken all she had learned during her travels, settled in China, and launched one of the country’s first rural teacher training facilities. And Pandita Ramabai Sarasvati . . .

Gabriel MacLean, who had always been called Specs on account of the spectacles he’d worn since early childhood, had sent Gussie a copy of Ramabai’s book a couple of years earlier. It was leather-bound and much underlined, and Gussie loved the story of the Indian woman traveling to England and the United States, telling the world about the terrible plight of widows in her country.

She has earned my highest regard, Specs had written.

After that, Gussie sent him and Catherine clippings of her columns with trepidation, knowing she could never measure up to Ramabai. Knowing her own work lacked in comparison.

She turned her attention back to A Lady’s Journey East. There was no use in thinking on such things. Her columns would likely never change the world, but they changed moments, at least.

A waiter delivered her meal, and she continued to read as she ate, occasionally turning to look out the window and watch as the never-ending plains disappeared into darkness. This was a terrible land. Unforgiving and inflexible. But it tugged at her. She thought that if she threw herself from the train, it would catch her . . . then consume her. And something about that drew her forward until her nose touched the window and she saw past the reflections of the other diners. Saw the shapes and shadows of prairie grass and clumps of stunted trees.

She could lose herself here. Get off at the next stop and become a product of reinvention. Anyone she wanted to be. Who would she choose? Who was worthy of her thrumming heart? Who deserved the blood pulsing through her veins and throbbing in her ears? Who would measure up to all those female explorers and world changers, pressed together and compounded?”

EXCERPT

He watched as his master was tied to a stake and a great fire was set. Tears he thought spent rose in his eyes, yet he refused to look away as the flames licked upward, as the heat made him retreat, step by step.

The bishop threw his master’s life’s work—the book, carefully wrapped in a burlap sack—into the fire at the priest’s feet. The burlap swiftly burned and curled, revealing the lambskin cover of the priceless book. It too began to burn.

The priest glanced over at the boy, a quiet question in his eyes.

The boy patted his shirt in response, reassuring his master, feeling the sacred pages next to his skin.

Go, child. Go! The boy shook his head in confusion; he could hear the priest, even though the old man’s parched lips moved not.

The boy glanced over at the bishop, his face and grand robe dancing eerily in the heat waves between them. The bishop’s eyes narrowed, and he beckoned to the boy.

Run! Run, child!

Looking at his master one last time, the boy turned and fled into the night.

EXCERPT

Chapter 2 – “The Almost-Forgotten Spitfire: Sara Griffith Stanley” from Carved in Ebony by Jasmine Holmes, pp. 51-52, 161 words (unedited)

When I was a young girl, I remember telling my mom that I just wanted to be remembered. The William Shakespeare, not the Billy Spears who wrote really excellent community theater plays and died in obscurity. The older I’ve gotten, though, the more I’ve realized that fame is not the only measure of our impact.

The average person on the street has no idea who Sara G. Stanley was. And yet, her impact changed the lives of the students she came in contact with. Hundreds of years later, it changed my life. Her faithfulness, so broadly unseen, resonates with this girl who used to want all the credit. Her impact was not broad—but it was deep. And that’s the kind of impact I want. The Instagram followers, Twitter count, Facebook likes . . . those are not nearly as important as the lives I’m touching day-to-day: for me, my children. For Sara, her students. That’s the true test of faithfulness.

Book Blitz, Excerpt & Giveaway: A Texan's Christmas Baby by Linda Warren

On Tour with Prism Book Tours

We're celebrating Linda Warren's 50th release!

A Texan's Christmas Baby
(Texas Rebels #11)
By Linda Warren
Contemporary Romance
Paperback & ebook, 384 Pages
October 26, 2021 by Harlequin Heartwarming

Christmas is a time of forgiveness…
And unforgettable surprises

Former professional football player Chase Rebel has finally come home for good. But ranching life in his small Texan hometown is far from simple—especially when it comes to Chase's beautiful estranged wife, Jody. There's no escaping the mistakes and hurts of their past…or the feelings that still linger between them. But can Jody and an unexpected Christmas surprise show this Texan where he truly belongs?

(Affiliate links included.)

Excerpt

Before Chase could put his phone in his pocket, the doorbell rang. He sighed. He opened the door without looking through the peephole. He froze, words sticking in his throat.

Jody stood there.

He hadn’t seen her in over a year and his heart stopped just from looking into her gorgeous eyes. In a green dress and heels she looked more beautiful than ever, grown-up, sophisticated, except there were tiny worry lines around her eyes that hadn’t been there before.

She had a box in her hands and shoved it toward him. “These are some of the things you gave me and I don’t want them in my house anymore.”

He refused to take it so she set the box on the floor by his feet. Her eyes were cold and hesitant as she waited for him to pick it up.

“How did you know I was home?” he asked, ignoring the box.

“I have to go. Just wanted you to have those things back because I know they mean something to you.”

“That’s why I gave them to you. They’re yours.”

She turned to leave as if she didn’t want to get into an argument. He couldn’t let her go. Breathing the same air as Jody was intoxicating and he wanted to keep her here as long as possible, even if they were arguing. It had always been that way with him. He could be in the dumps about a game or something but the moment he heard her voice, it lifted his spirits.

“What are you doing home anyway? Don’t you have spring training or something or another?”

“I just wanted to come home.”
