#TackleTBR Wrap-up

https://www.wishfulendings.com/2019/08/2019-tackle-your-tbr-read-thon-sign-up.html

Well, life intervened and I didn't get the books read that I wanted to- also I read a couple books not on my list. Say You Love Me was to have a happy story to fall asleep to, but Home to Chestnut Grove was an accident- it was open on my Kindle and I read it thinking it was You Belong With Me... and afterwards I went to write a review and the book description did not quite match what I had just read *face palm* But in my defense they are both about towns that are being "rescued" into revitalization by the main character. One is just much more Christmas-themed than the other... The last book I read, The Words Between Us, was excellent so I did end the read-a-thon on a happily satisfied note.

#FallIntoBooks #ChildhoodFavorite

I absolutely loved The Little House on the Prairie books by Laura Ingalls Wilder, and read them several times throughout my childhood and teen years. These Happy Golden Years was probably my first sweet romance ;) I credit these books for my love of pioneer stories and westerns. I'm planning to borrow the audiobooks from our library to listen to with my five year old at bedtime.

#FallIntoBooks #FavoriteCouple

I'm going to go with the classic literary couple, Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy. The first time I read the book, I had not yet seen any movie versions, so I pictured him as very tall, and her as much younger than him. As much as I enjoy both the miniseries and 2005 movie, I prefer vintage illustrations and depictions of the couple since they match my own vision. I also love reading retellings and stories inspired by the book, they can be so much fun!

#FallIntoBooks #CurrentlyReading

I'm currently reading Storm Front by Susan May Warren, the fifth book in the Montana Rescue series! Just like the others, it's full of epic adventure, suspense, romance, and inspirational themes.

Synopsis

A tornado has destroyed a small Minnesota community and among the missing are not only a group of students but PEAK Rescue team leader Chet King. Ty Remington will stop at nothing to rescue his mentor, not even when the girl he loved--and lost--walks back into his life. But Brette needs his help more than he knows, despite her stubborn determination to push him away. And when he gets a second chance, loving her just might cost him more than he can imagine.

A blogger for Vortex Storm Chasers, Brette Arnold didn't expect her adventures to land her in the same place as Ty, the guy who she walked--no, ran--from over a year ago. She had her reasons--good ones. The kind that tell her that falling for him again would only lead to heartache. But Ty isn't the kind of man to give up--not on the missing students, or on her.

Life and love hang in the balance in Susan May Warren's breathless story of holding on to hope during a deadly summer of storms.

#FallIntoBooks #Unforgettable

As a teen I enjoyed Cynthia Voigt's Tillerman series, so when I was a young adult and came across this book at a thrift store, I picked it up. Its story and characters are unforgettable and have stayed with me over the years. I love the world-building, the dichotomy of strength and vulnerability in desperate times. The romance is super subtle and sweet.

There is much want in the kingdom and the tales of Jackaroo, the masked outlaw who helps the poor in times of trouble, is on everyone's lips. Gwyn, the innkeeper's spunky daughter, pays little attention to the tales. But when she is stranded during a snowstorm in a cabin with the lordling Gaderian, and finds a strange garment that resembles the costume Jackaroo is said to wear, she begins to wonder...

#FallIntoBooks #Wishlist

A few books on my wishlist are the ones in the new Garrison's Law series by Mary Connealy! I love this author's historical westerns for their adventure and humor as well as sweet romance, and I'm excited to see her writing in a different genre- although I'm sure the action, humor, and romance will still be there, just in a contemporary setting. (I actually have the first book on my Kindle but wanted to share them all with you anyway!)

He's got to find a kinder way.
