Suddenly,
Jimmy’s mind went back to his time in heaven. The memories of some of the
things he was taught there came back to him.
But
he had to think. Think hard. Mr. Angel had told him that he was supposed to
help people with the knowledge he’d been given. It had all come so easily to
him in heaven. But now, it was as if his little puppy brain was going to burst
with the effort. He thought and thought. But still he couldn’t remember what it
was he was supposed to do.
He
had the answers locked in his head. All he had to do was remember.
Feeling
Robin’s fear, hearing the terror in Becky’s voice and sensing the anguish in
Hal’s heart, Jimmy knew his task on earth was almost impossible.
Yet,
the doctors had clearly been working on Robin for a long time. It could have
been years for all he knew, judging by the collection of ball caps Robin
owned—ones that he’d collected every time he went through another treatment.
Jimmy
was only a puppy. He didn’t know what to do. But he had to do something. He
wouldn’t have been sent to earth if Mr. Angel didn’t believe in his ability to
save Robin.
No
matter how hard Jimmy thought, he just couldn’t make his brain work and bring
back the memory. Courageously, Jimmy did not give up hope. He pressed on. He
wasn’t going to let some dumb disease take Robin from him.
Jimmy
did the one thing he knew would work.
He prayed.
