INTERVIEW WITH AUTHOR REBECCA WATERS
Can you tell us a little about
yourself?
Certainly. I was a wife, mother, grandmother,
teacher, and professor before I started my writing career. Then I was a widow,
a teacher, and a missionary before I returned to my writing career. Now I
describe myself as a mother, grandmother, and author.
What do you do besides writing?
I volunteer at my church, travel, and love to walk. I also
love to paint, though my artistic efforts are not where I want to go…yet.
Do you have images you can share
that come close to how you picture your characters? Do you like to find visual
inspiration for your characters before or during your writing process?
This is an interesting question. I
don’t generally have a “picture” of my characters in mind but when I saw the
image for the cover of Breathing on Her Own, I recognized Travis and Molly
immediately! And they looked strangely similar to my sweet husband and me
standing there.
What are some songs that you listened to or inspired you while writing your book?
Breathe by Michael W. Smith. That song didn’t come into the writing
until though. I didn’t even have the title for the book until I was half way
through the first draft. But it is the song I hear when I think of that book.
What message would you like readers
to ultimately take away from the book?
I think the big piece is about not
living on “borrowed faith.” Just because our parents may have been believers
doesn’t make us believers. And Just because we go to church doesn’t make us
believers.
What can we look forward to coming
from you in the future?
I have another book, Libby’s Cuppa Joe set in Door County
Wisconsin currently out and I am working on a romantic series set in my
hometown of Lutz, Florida.
Thanks Rebecca!
