Love in Bloom Spotlight: Author Carol Ross & Giveaway!

Bachelor Remedy by Carol Ross

She’s the most unconventional woman he’ll ever meet… and the cure for a perennial bachelor? Raised by her healer grandfather, former army medic Ally Mowak knows her alternative approach to traditional medicine puts her at odds with most of her Alaskan town. That includes Tag James, the rugged transport pilot with the sprawling family and political ambitions. Ally couldn’t be more wrong for the aspiring senator. Then why does everything feel so right when they’re together?

“No." Ally looked offended. "And that’s not why you like me, either. We didn’t feel anything the first couple times we met, did we? Except for irritation. I didn’t even remember who you were at one point and you thought I was a crackpot. Maybe still do, a bit.”

This was true, mostly. “Crackpot is kind of a strong term,” Tag hedged.

She chuckled. “Don’t start pulling the political correctness card on me now. I know what you thought of me. And I thought you were just another arrogant know-it-all. I’m attracted to you because you’re not those things. You are confident and smart and incredibly thoughtful and kind. You love your family, and from what I’ve seen you’re extra good to them all, especially your sisters. You’re also a paramedic, a decent basketball player and an excellent pilot, and I’ll admit I find that particular skill set highly attractive.”

Toast. He was toast. How was he supposed to resist this—her? He was 100 percent certain he’d never been tested this way in his entire life. And he’d thought running for the senate was going to be his biggest challenge.

Carol Ross always creates characters and stories and romances that immediately capture your attention and keep you captive until you’ve read the last word. As for the story...dive in knowing you will get a fully developed storyline, wonderful characters all around, and an extremely satisfying happily-ever-after. Ross writes dialogue that is fresh, fun, and realistic just like the story itself.

Author Carol Ross

USA Today bestselling author Carol Ross grew up in small town America right between the Pacific Ocean and the Cascade Mountains, in a place where you can go deep sea fishing in the morning and then hit the ski slopes the same afternoon. The daughter of what is now known as free range parents, she developed a love of the outdoors at a very early age. As a writer, Carol loves to breathe the life she has lived into the characters she creates, grateful for the “research material” that every questionable decision, adrenaline-charged misstep, and near-death experience has provided.

Review & Giveaway: Perfectly Misunderstood by Robin Daniels

4 stars / I really liked it

http://www.amazon.comhttp://www.amazon.comhttp://www.goodreads.com

Synopsis

Jayden Valdez is an overachieving intellectual. Mike McGinnes is Franklin High School’s dumbest jock. Even though they barely know each other, she finds his personality repulsive and he thinks she’s got a giant stick up her you know what.

Mike and Jayden are surprised and annoyed when their teacher pairs them together for Spanish tutoring. Both feel it’s a complete waste of time, since nobody could learn from a person who bugs the crap out of them. Not to mention that their reputations might be ruined if people realize what they’re doing.

But it doesn’t take long for Jayden to discover that Mike has a secret—he isn’t the person he appears to be. Much to her dismay, Jayden finds 'Secret Mike' strangely attractive. And for some crazy reason, Mike is amused by Jayden’s clever insults and witty banter. Suddenly, they have a much bigger problem than their mutual disdain. What started as irritating tension is beginning to feel more like romantic tension and acting on it would be a very bad idea.

This dual perspective book is the final installment in the Perfect Series but can be read as a stand-alone.

Review

I don't read as much YA as I used to, but this is an author whose work has been so fun to read and is highly entertaining! The way she writes from a teenage boy's perspective captures reality without being crass, and I appreciate that her characters don't fall into stereotypes but stand out as unique individuals. Jayden is a bit high maintenance while also being smart and a loyal friend, so it took me a while to feel out her personality. Mike is hilarious with his homeboy persona while hiding the truth about himself- he is driven, focused, highly intelligent, and makes sacrifices to help out at home. He was pretty likeable, and I was happy to see Jayden uncover his secret and encourage him to come clean with his friends and schoolmates. Their friendship doesn't come easy but once they behave naturally around each other, it opens the door for more romantic feelings to develop. They share great banter which is always fun, and there are layers of depth that emerge which make the plot more meaningful. I really enjoyed this series and look forward to more from the author!

Synopsis

LOVE. LOSS. AND SECOND CHANCES.

Nina’s once-sweet life has unexpectedly turned sour. Her marriage is over, her job is in jeopardy, and her teenage daughter is slipping away from her. Then her father dies and issues with Nina’s mother come to a head; her estranged brother, Ray, comes home; and her sister, Lola, is tempted to blow a big family secret out of the water. They say the truth will set you free, but first it will make a huge mess of things.

All Nina’s got left is her final photography assignment shooting images for the book 32 Ways to Make Lemonade. Well, that and the attention of a younger man, but Oliver’s on-again-off-again romantic interest in her ebbs and flows so much she is seasick. And then Jack, her ex-husband, shows up, wanting to get back together.

As Nina struggles to find a way through her complicated relationships and to uncover her true path, she discovers just how valuable a second chance at life and happiness can be.
